Preparing for your Sail Canada course with BOSS in SVG
In collaboration with LearnToCruiseOnline.ca, BOSS offers Ashore Knowledge and Navigation modules to help you prepare for Sail Canada (SC) Learn and Cruise courses offered by BOSS. Some of these modules are included in your BOSS course fee. Other modules cover course prerequisites are not included in the course fee but are available from LTCO and other Sail Canada schools.
Ashore Knowledge Modules included in your BOSS course fee
The following Ashore Knowledge modules are included as part of your BOSS course fee. These modules supplement the material included in the official Sail Canada texts and student notes. In order to access this content:
- Step 1: Set up an account on LearnToCruiseOnline by clicking the following link: https://courses.learntocruiseonline.ca/login Then scroll down on this page and click “Create New Account”. Complete and submit the form. Please note that each individual must create their own account: shared accounts is not permitted.
- Step 2: Send an email to rob.m@barefootyachts.com indicating the title and date of the BOSS course you are enrolled in and confirm that you have set up an account as described in Step 1. Unless you send this email, we won’t necessarily know that you have registered or what content you are seeking access to.
- Step 3: After confirmation from the BOSS booking team, Rob will activate your subscription(s) and notify you when that has been done. If you encounter any technical issues, please email rob.m@barefootyachts.com with details on the issue you are encountering.

Course prerequisites required for Sail Canada certification
Sail Canada Basic, Intermediate and Advanced courses have various prerequisites that must be completed before you can be certified in the SC database. As a convenience, LTCO offers online courses covering these prerequisites, but they are also available from other Sail Canada schools across Canada.
If you choose to obtain these prerequisites through LTCO:
- Step 1: If you have not already done so, set up an account on LearnToCruiseOnline by clicking the following link: https://courses.learntocruiseonline.ca/login. Then scroll down on this page and complete the form entitled: “Create New Account”. Complete and submit the form.
- Step 2: Access the home page at https://courses.learntocruiseonline.ca and select the course to which you wish to subscribe.
- Step 3: As part of the subscription process you will be asked to pay via Paypal through our partner Wavelength Sailing School.
- Step 4: You should automatically be able to access the relevant content. If you encounter any technical issues, please email rob.m@barefootyachts.com.
