Instructor Recruitment and Clinics
BOSS is always interested in hearing from experienced instructors who are intrigued by the possibility of leading courses in one of the best places in the world to teach and learn sailing on keelboats and catamarans.
Minimum qualifications for teaching at BOSS are:
ASA instructors: 201, 203, 204, 214
Sail Canada instructors: SC Intermediate, SC Catamaran Endorsement, and equivalent ASA qualifications
BOSS is the leading school in the Caribbean for Advanced and Offshore training, in addition to supporting the full range of ASA and Sail Canada courses. We particularly encourage applications from instructors who are interested in progressing to teaching at Advanced and Offshore levels.
If you are interested in joining our team, email our Lead Instructor, Rob McLean.
To help instructors acquire the certifications and experience needed to teach in the Grenadines, BOSS typically offers both an ASA and a Sail Canada Instructor Development clinic each season. Clinics in the works for the 2024-2025 season:
- ASA 204/214/205 clinic: March 9-16, 2025 (date to be confirmed): Details of last year’s 2024 clinic are here: https://barefootyachts.com/boss/asa-clinic/
- Sail Canada Intermediate / Cat Endorsement/ ASA crossover clinic: February 23-March 1, 2025 (date to be confirmed). Details on last year’s 2024 clinic are here at: https://barefootyachts.com/boss/sail-canada-clinic/
These clinics are designed for instructors who are already qualified to teach Basic ASA or Sail Canada courses. However, if you are interested in instructing in future, Rob will be happy to provide advice on the best path to get there.
