Most cruising yacht owners enjoy their yachts with their significant others and or family for the majority of their sailing. This means, that whether or not they have others onboard, the number of sailors capable of running the yacht or taking part in maneuvers is usually only one or two people. But now you can learn the tricks that allow singlehanded racers to handle the hugely powerful modern offshore racing yachts which keep them safe in the most challenging conditions. You can then utilize these lessons on your cruising yacht to sail safer, faster and have more fun. You will learn techniques developed by the best singlehanded sailors in the world which will keep you and your family safe and allow you to get the most out of your boat whether on a day sails or when passage making. In short, if you are considering owning your own yacht or finally taking that epic voyage and looking to build from solid fundamentals to advanced sailing techniques then, this course is for YOU.

Course Outline

Communication and teamwork.
Planning ahead, what to look at.
Safety, lessons learned from offshore racing.
Getting on and off docks, moorings and anchoring.
Handling damaged furling headsails.
Handling speciality downwind sail. (soft sails and snuffers, furlers)
Tacking and gybing singlehanded.
Personal management onboard an offshore shorthanded boat.

Course Objectives

shorthanded sailing techniques
Teach shorthanded sailing techniques to help owners get more satisfaction out of yacht ownership.
Offshore and overnight
Prepare couples to sail longer distances, offshore and overnight, together safely and have more fun.
Create defined roles
Create defined roles, based on the strengths and weaknesses of the individuals that make up the couple.
Boat handling
Teach basic boat handling including using downwind speciality sails.
Ownership
Prepare couples for ownership or live-aboard life.
Communication
Teach effective onboard communication.

Pricing

The Barefoot Offshore Sailing School Advanced Couples Cruising Course is offered as a live-a-board, Learn and Cruise course run over 6 days in the beautiful Grenadines.
Couples Cruising training is offered alone or to students as additional training in conjunction with ASA 101 to 104 and ASA 114 (Catamaran Cruising) OR for more advanced sailors ASA 106. There are no additional cost other than ASA exam fees and ASA membership for adding ASA training but it does make for a very busy week.
Monohull course (ASA 101 to 104) cost per couple $5000.00 (Sharing a private cabin)
Multihull course (ASA 101 to 114) cost per couple $5500.00 (Sharing a private cabin)
ASA 106 (Coastal cruising) course cost per couple $6000.00 (Sharing a private cabin)

Pricing includes:

Fully-equipped yacht with ASA Instructor
Food for 6 breakfasts, 6 lunches, 3 evening meals
ASA Log book
Fuel, ice, tank water
Hull insurance
Charter Licence

Pricing does not include:

Air fare and ground transfers
Cruising permit – $14 per person
Cleaning / disinfection fee of $250.00 per person
ASA Membership – $49 per person (if not already held)
Examinations, if passed – $20 each
3 evening meals
