Welcome to Barefoot’s Guides for prospective charter yacht owners.

We recognize that exploring the potential purchase of a yacht and placing it into charter is a major decision for most people. Until now, the charter industry has not done a particularly good job providing comprehensive and transparent information for prospective charter yacht owners. We’re hoping to help change that.

Because of this, we’ve developed a set of Guides that aim to provide the information you need to make an informed decision of what yacht to buy, how yacht management programs work, and what financial outcomes you could anticipate.

In parallel with creating these Guides, we took a hard look at our traditional yacht management program. While this program has worked well for most of our owners over the years, we think we can do even better going forward.

That’s why we developed the BYC Partnership Program, described in its own Guide. We invite you to be among the first to access these Guides.  We would appreciate your comments and feedback as to whether you find these Guides useful, and how we can improve them in future.

“Management and staff at Barefoot have all been honest trustworthy and hard-working individuals. They have been especially accommodating on making arrangements for our frequent personal charters, as well as special requests for delivery and installation of equipment and supplies for the vessel.

Barefoot have also demonstrated responsibility in securing the vessel during tropical storms. I have no hesitation in recommending Barefoot Yacht Charters to other owners who wish to consider charter yacht management services. ”

Financial Models for Charter Yachts

We have developed a model that can provide a detailed analysis of the financial performance of specific yachts under the BYC Partnership Program. The financial models provide a detailed, 6-page financial analysis, including 5 year projections of charter rates, revenue, expenses, net income to charter yacht owner, and Return on Investment, accompanied by a detailed explanation of the operational assumptions underlying the projections. To our knowledge, this is the most comprehensive and transparent financial analysis ever offered by a charter management company.

Summary of Financial Models

For each fleet, the charts below summarize the following datapoints that are derived from our detailed financial models:

  • Estimated yacht value in 2022 ($ 000s): this is the expected fair market value of the yacht as it comes into the Barefoot fleet
  • Total annual charter revenue ($ 000s): This is the estimated total charter revenue earned annually over a 5 year period
  • Owner net profit after Year 5 sale, Target Utilization Scenario ($ 000s): This is the total profit the owner realizes based on annual net revenues plus the sale of the yacht in year 5.  This is calculated based on 30 weeks utilization for Neptune fleet yachts, and 25 weeks utilization for Navigator fleet yachts
  • Owner % of Total Revenue, Target Utilization Scenario (percent): This is the percentage of total charter revenue that goes back to the owner annually, after allowing for all costs. (To our knowledge, the owner share of total charter revenue is higher with the BYC Partnership Program than any competing charter company).
  • 5 year Average Annual ROI, Target Utilization Scenario (percent): this is the annual annual return on the owner’s initial investment
